As a global power leader, Cummins designs, produces and distributes multiple power solutions and provides service support. The company's products include diesel and natural gas engines, hybrid and electric power platforms and related technologies, including transmission systems, battery systems, fuel systems, control systems, air intake processing systems, filtration systems, emission processing systems and power systems.

 

Cummins was founded in 1919, headquartered in Columbus, Indiana, USA. It has about 62,600 employees worldwide, more than 600 distribution agencies and more than 7,600 distributors worldwide, providing product and service support to customers in more than 190 countries and regions.

 

Cummins consists of five independent and complementary business departments.

 

1) Engine Department

The Engine Division produces and distributes diesel and natural gas engines with a wide range of power as well as corresponding parts and components for automotive, industrial and power generation equipment and other fields. Cummins engine displacement 2.8-91 liters, power range of 60-3500 horsepower, widely used in heavy trucks, medium-sized trucks, buses, RV, light commercial vehicles and pickup trucks and other road vehicles, as well as construction machinery, mining equipment, agricultural machinery, ships and railways and other non-highway areas.

 

Cummins engine is not only well-known for its first-class reliability, durability and fuel economy, but also for its increasingly stringent automotive emissions (US EPA2010, European No. 4 and No. 5), off-road motor equipment emissions (Tier 4 interim/Stage IIIB) and aircraft emissions (IMO standards). The competition has always been in the leading position in the industry.

 

Since the end of 1990s, the power range of Cummins engine products has greatly expanded, and the number of product platforms has doubled.

 

Cummins'24 engine series, 15 have been localized in China.

 

 

2) Power Systems Division

In 2016, Cummins merged its power and power businesses to form a power system division. The newly established power system business focuses on high-power engines that provide power for electric power, mining equipment, marine engines, oil and gas fields and railways.

 

Cummins Power Business Products are used for standby power, distributed generation and ancillary power supply on mobile devices to meet customers'multi-dimensional power needs. The department also provides a full range of services and power solutions, including long-term operation and maintenance agreements, turnkey projects and temporary power supplies. The product line includes diesel and alternative fuel generators (2.5 kW-2.7 MW), alternators (0.6 KVA-30,000 KVA), engine, control system, switchgear (40 amps-3,000 amps) and switchgear. It is widely used in office buildings, hospitals, factories, municipal, power plants, universities, recreational and leisure vehicles, etc. Yacht and household power supply and other fields.

 

Cummins high horsepower business products are widely used in mines, ships, oil and gas fields, railways and engineering machinery. The product lines include diesel engines (from 19 to 95 liters), gas engines (from 5.9 to 72 liters), rig generators and dual fuel engines and components.

 

 

3) BU Distribution

Distribution Division is composed of 17 Cummins wholly-owned distributors and 15 joint-venture distributors. Its network covers more than 300 locations in more than 70 countries and regions worldwide, providing Cummins products, components and after-sales services to customers worldwide.

 

Through Cummins Global Distribution Service System, Cummins service personnel trained to provide customers with a full range of parts and services support.

 

Cummins wholly owned distribution network covers key global markets, including China, India, Japan, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and South Africa. The system also supports 6,500 Cummins dealer outlets worldwide.

 

4)Parts Division

The following four business departments constitute Cummins Parts Division.

 

4.1)Cummins filtration system (formerly Fleetguard)

Diesel and gas engine air, fuel oil, hydraulic oil and lubricating oil filters, as well as various chemical additives.

 

4.2)Cummins Turbocharger Technology System (formerly Holset)

A full range of turbochargers and related products for more than three liters of diesel and natural gas engines are mainly used in the global commercial vehicles and industrial markets.

 

 

4.3)Cummins Emission Solutions

Catalytic Purification System for Exhaust Gas of Medium and Heavy Diesel Engines and its related products are mainly engaged in supporting new models of main engine factories and retrofitting existing vehicles. Its main products include integral catalytic purification system, special parts for post-processing system and system integration services for engine manufacturers.

 

4.4)Cummins Fuel System

Fuel system of diesel engine with displacement ranging from 8 litres to 78 litres.

 

 

5)Electric Business Department

Established in 2017, the Electric Business Department is Cummins'latest business organization. It integrates all the company's electric resources and is committed to providing integrated electric solutions and key components for the commercial and industrial markets. The Electric Business Department designs, produces and sells all-electric and hybrid electric power systems and provides corresponding support. At present, the Electric Power Division has branches in six regions of four countries.

 

 

Cummins China

Cummins was one of the earliest Western diesel engine companies to localize engine production in China. In 1981, Chongqing Engine Factory began to license Cummins engine production. In 1995, Cummins first Chinese joint venture engine factory was established. In 1997, Cummins formally established its regional headquarters in China and Cummins (China) investment. The company was established in Beijing to manage Cummins'investment and business development in East Asia as a whole. So far, Cummins has 29 institutions in China, including 14 joint ventures with more than 10,000 employees, producing engines, generators, alternators, filtration systems, turbocharging systems, aftertreatment and fuel systems. Cummins'service network in China includes 16 regional service centers and more than 2000. Authorized distributors of wholly-owned and joint ventures in China.

 

Cummins has long insisted on forming strategic alliances with large Chinese enterprises to achieve common development. As a foreign-funded diesel engine manufacturer, Cummins has established five joint ventures with leading Chinese commercial vehicle companies including Dongfeng Automobile,

Shaanxi Automobile Group and Beiqi Futian for more than 40 years, and 15 of Cummins'24 engine series have been produced locally in China.

 

Cummins is the first foreign-funded diesel engine company to set up research and development center in China. In August 2006, Cummins and Dongfeng Co. established the engine technology research and development center in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

 

Cummins'sales in China reached 5.56 billion US dollars in 2017, and China has become Cummins' largest and fastest growing overseas market.
